Rooted Together

  • Mission

Rooted Together’s mission is to make decolonized and culturally attuned trauma care accessible to QTBIPOC communities and support QTBIPOC individuals in regaining steadiness in their bodies after traumatic events.

    About Us

Rooted Together is a fiscally sponsored nonprofit clinical program founded and led by a Black, queer, nonbinary trauma therapist with a commitment to decolonizing trauma care for QTBIPOC communities. This program provides up to 10 free, body-based trauma stabilization sessions to QTBIPOC adults (age 18+) who have experienced a traumatic or distressing event within the last three months. Rooted Together is grounded in somatic, decolonized, culturally attuned care and utilizes evidence-based acute trauma modalities, including EMDR (R-TEP), Brainspotting, and other body-oriented approaches. The program's purpose is to support post-crisis recovery, prevent accumulation of trauma-related symptoms, and reduce future vulnerability to re-traumatization. The program’s services will be delivered by culturally attuned providers who reflect the identities and lived experiences of the QTBIPOC communities served and are committed to decolonizing trauma care for those communities. This program’s activities focus on offering low-barrier, noncarceral, and flexible support that is adaptable to each individual’s unique needs. The program’s activities center safety and trust while supporting QTBIPOC individuals with stabilization, aiming to provide reparative experiences within mental health spaces that can help QTBIPOC communities remain in care and sustain mental health stability.
