    About Us

Founded in 1992, LGFB is Canada’s only national charitable program dedicated to helping people with cancer feel like themselves again. Originally developed through a partnership between the beauty industry and healthcare professionals, LGFB has evolved into a holistic, evidence-informed program that addresses the emotional, psychological, and social dimensions of the cancer experience.

Our mission is to educate and empower individuals to manage the appearance-related effects of cancer and its treatment with compassion, dignity, and inclusivity. Through accessible workshops offered both in-person and online, we foster community, restore self-image, and support the well-being of participants at all stages of their cancer journey.

Cancer takes an enormous toll — not just physically, but emotionally and psychologically. Many survivors describe the trauma of losing their sense of identity and confidence due to treatment-related hair loss, skin sensitivity, or surgical changes. Our mission is to restore that sense of self by equipping participants with the knowledge, tools, and support they need to feel more like themselves again.

Delivered both in-person and online, our workshops are designed to be inclusive, accessible, and empowering — reaching people across Canada regardless of geography, income, or cancer type. In 2024, LGFB supported over 6,100 participants through 795 workshops, with 89% reporting increased confidence and 97% saying they would recommend the experience to others.
