"Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota expresses the love of Christ for all people through service that inspires hope, changes lives, and builds community." Expresses the love of Christ for all people: The work of LSS is grounded in Christ's unconditional love for all people. LSS celebrates other faiths and invites everyone who shares our vision to join in the common cause with us. Through service: LSS offers a broad range of service intended to provide all whom we serve the opportunity to live and work with dignity, safety, and hope. Inspires hope: Hope instills conviction about life as it should be and creates the courage to seek it. Changes lives: People who come to LSS yearn for change in their lives. LSS recognizes that its role is to be a catalyst for that change. Builds community: LSS resolves to optimize its capacity for advocacy and influencing change. A center role for LSS is to build the public will with respect to the vision we have for the community's life together.
About Us
LSS is the largest, statewide non-profit social service agency in Minnesota with over 2, 400 employees who serve in 300 communities. It is owned by the six Minnesota synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Services are divided into four divisions:

- Older Adults
- People with Disabilities
Volunteers are a growing part of LSS with more than 10,000 active volunteers working for the vision: LSS Volunteers change lives by encouraging hope and connecting communities, by energizing staff and enhancing services, by growing their own talents and sense of purpose.
