University of Washington Educational Outreach

About Us

UW Educational Outreach (UWEO) is a community gateway to the University of Washington (UW), the nationally and internationally ranked public research university based in Seattle, Washington.

Founded in 1912, UWEO is today one of the largest and most highly regarded professional and continuing education units in the country. We remain committed to providing access to a UW education for nontraditional students. In 2009, we served more than 45,000 students, 80 percent of them working adults over the age of 25.

UWEO partners with the UW colleges, schools, and departments to offer a wide variety of programs to meet almost any educational goal. We administer the UW evening undergraduate degree completion program, 35 professionally oriented master's degree programs, 120 certificate programs in 75 fields, numerous workshops and conferences, and more. To fit busy lives, programs are primarily scheduled in the evenings, weekends, and online.

In addition to programs for K-12 educators and UWEO's International Educational Outreach unit, we partner with organizations and universities across the U.S. and around the world to deliver customized educational programs. Corporate partners range from Boeing and Microsoft to the State of Washington.

All programs administered by UW Educational Outreach are fee-based (rather than state-funded) and self-sustaining. This allows us to provide programs that could not otherwise be offered.
