San Diego State University Research Foundation

  • Mission

The goal of San Diego State University's Tobacco Product Waste Reduction Project is to count, measure, collect, and map the distribution of tobacco product waste throughout San Diego County and use those data to develop sustainable solutions to this problem.

    About Us

The Tobacco Product Waste Reduction Project is part of San Diego State University Research Foundation's Measurement and Evaluation Research Group (MERG). Measuring and evaluating the environment and various factors in the environment, like tobacco is the driving force of MERG. An interdisciplinary group of researchers brings together skill sets ranging from public health and policy to psychology and communication. Community health is emphasized in all projects. Visit the Thirdhand Smoke Resource Center to learn more about one of the program's longtime accomplishments: thirdhandsmoke.org.
