West Bronx Academy for the Future

Bronx, NY

About Us

West Bronx Academy is a middle and high school that opened in September 2004 as part of the New Century High Schools initiative. Our mission is to promote the growth of our students as engaged Bronx citizens who actively dig into the work at hand and who recognize that they are essential members of their school and larger community.

West Bronx Academy students learn by doing. They use technology to investigate issues that are relevant and important to themselves and to their borough. Students at West Bronx Academy participate in a wealth of after school programs run by teachers in partnership with local community organizations.

With a focus on accelerating student learning our middle school students have the opportunity to take and earn high school regents credit by taking regents at the end of eighth grade. In addition we offer a wealth of Advanced Placement courses to our high school students.

Our high school students work closely with their guidance counselor and teachers to be prepared for college. Working in partnership with programs at both Fordham University and Lehman College our students have a variety of opportunities to experience college life.

Our staff is a group of creative, passionate and committed individuals working collectively to meet the needs of all learners.
