Guthrie Opportunity Center

We are a non-profit organization in Nelson County, Kentucky serving developmentally disadvantaged members of our community with a family-like environment that enables them to acquire life skills training and achieve independence through work opportunities.

The Guthrie Opportunity Center (GOC) partners with Communicare to provide meaningful employment for the developmentally disabled through a variety of contract work opportunities with community partners, including sorting, package assembly, product labeling and more.

One of the Guthrie Opportunity Center’s goals is to create a garden program for our participants that would increase independence, concentration, and provide a positive environment for learning outdoors.

On-The-GO Foods is a retail and catering program in collaboration with the Guthrie Opportunity Center (GOC), a non-profit organization serving people with developmental and intellectual disabilities in the Nelson County, KY community. Through On-The-GO Foods, we provide job training, community employment, advocacy, independence, self-confidence and community integration while serving excellent lunches and catered dinners!
