  • About Us

Specialized Alternatives for Families and Youth (SAFY) of America is a leading national nonprofit organization providing a full continuum of services for youth in the child welfare, behavioral health, and juvenile justice systems. Founded in 1984, SAFY (www.safy.org) provides nationally-recognized family and children services in 28 offices across eight states including Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, South Carolina, Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas and Nevada.

SAFY is committed to facilitating the safety, permanency and well-being of children and families who have experienced crisis. Mindful of the profound impact trauma has on the development and healing processes, we offer a broad range of programming from early intervention and prevention, home-based or community-based interventions, out-of-home placements, reunification and aftercare services for more than 18,700 vulnerable children and families. Our comprehensive services include treatment foster care, adoption, emergency and runaway services, mental health services, in-home services, independent living, developmental disability services, juvenile offender programs, aftercare, special medical services and teen parent programs.

Mission: Fostering an environment that positively impacts the lives of youth and their families . . . whether they are with us for an hour or a lifetime.
