Cinema Arts Centre
The Cinema Arts Centre (CAC) is Long Island's premier, year-round, independent and international film showcase and its leading 501(c)3 not-for-profit community cinema. Located on Long Island's North Shore, the CAC offers unique programming, with three theaters, and our Sky Room Café.
We present compelling American and international films, restored classics as well as entertaining popular films, adventurous and cutting edge films, and a remarkable array of monthly film series, often coordinated with music, art exhibits and more. Educational programming includes workshops in screen-writing and filmmaking, and lectures on film topics. Our Film Arts in Education program enhances curriculum for Long Island middle school and high school students. The CAC has hosted countless in-person discussions and receptions with directors, celebrities, scholars, and critics.
For 45 years, Long Island residents and visitors from all over have come to rely on the CAC to produce film programs of great artistic and social merit. The CAC is more than just a movie house; it is a true community center, using the power of film to elevate dialogue on issues broad in scope - from what it means to be an artist to what it means to be a citizen. The CAC has about 10,000 active members and attracts about 150,000 visitors each year, a testament to the ongoing relevance of CAC's film presentations and screening and discussion programs and to the demand for this unique venue for films and programs that cannot be found at the commercial multiplex.
