Founded as a grassroots community research and education organization in 2002, ISPU envisions an America where Muslims are thriving and equal and believes that relevant, rigorous research will help us get there.

ISPU’s big idea: Facts matter. Facts take guesswork out of problem solving, reframe conversations, correct misperceptions, and provide insight into community challenges. In the right hands, facts help effectively build understanding, promote rights, and strengthen communities.

ISPU conducts and proactively shares objective research and education about American Muslims and issues impacting Muslim communities to support well-informed dialogue and decision-making. In this way, we educate the public, equip leaders and communities with facts to address community challenges, mobilize advocacy around rights and social justice issues, and support national evidence-based conversations.

As the only organization of its kind, ISPU is the go-to source for community members and leaders, journalists, policy makers, advocates, educators, faith and business leaders, and practitioners working towards greater equity and thriving communities.
