About Us

Lao Friends Hospital for Children (LFHC) is the first full-service pediatric hospital in Northern Laos, established in partnership with the Luang Prabang Provincial Health Department, and funded by Friends Without A Border (FWAB), a US-based 501(c)(3) non-profit.

The hospital will replicate the successful model of Treatment + Education + Prevention achieved at FWAB's first project, Angkor Hospital for Children in Cambodia. LFHC will develop programs to train Lao healthcare workers and promote health education in rural communities. It will also deliver healthcare at international standards and it will be staffed by Lao medical professionals working alongside international staff and volunteers.

Facilities and programs at LFHC include: inpatient & outpatient departments, emergency room, intensive care unit, laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, lecture rooms & library to teach pediatric medicine to the future leaders of the hospital, kitchen & laundry for families visiting the hospital, and a garden & nutrition education program. In 2016, the hospital plans to open an operating theater and a neonatal & newborn unit.
