Be A Mentor INC.

Founded in 1992, Be A Mentor, Inc. is a youth services organization that provides at-risk youth in Oakland, Richmond, Hayward and the East Bay with one-to-one connections to adult friends. Studies show that when youth in foster care, with incarcerated parents and tempted by gangs, vagrancy, drugs and alcohol are welcomed into relationships with conscientious, caring adults, they avoid destructive and antisocial behaviors. Many of these slated-to-dropout young people begin to dream, build hopes and create plans to achieve them once a caring adult enters their lives. All of our mentors are volunteers and dedicate tremendous personal, emotional and financial resources to their mentees. Be A Mentor supports over 200 matches.
