  • About Us

Our Mission at Freedom Work is"Empowering adults with disabilities, through compassionate care, while providing FREEDOM to obtain WORK skills and OPPORTUNITIESto feel safe and be valued".

Freedom Work Opportunities, Inc. (FWO) is a Non profit 501 c 3 Vocational Training Program serving the needs of adults with disabilities in the Oakland, Livingston, and Genesee County areas. FWO was founded in 1983 to provide skill training to individuals with disabilities. It is the purpose of this organization to provide realistic training to individuals in a manner that promotes personal growth, dignity, and respect, while under the guidance of trained staff.

To achieve these goals F.W.O. supports the Person Center / Directed Planning approach to all aspects of our operational functions. All individuals are the center of the decision making process. They are given the right to choose what jobs they work on, where they work, the types of programs that are implemented, and the right to change their job or program if so desired.

By allowing individuals the right to voice their opinions and the right to choose, it is our intent to promote their ability to control their own destiny. By encouraging their ability to control their lives we believe that individuals will continue to want to increase their skills and choose a path in life that will fit their own personal needs.

F.W.O. acknowledges that all individuals will not want to choose a path that includes increasing their vocational skills of their employ-ability. For these individuals we encourage them to explore the non vocational options. These include the Alternative Activities and the Senior Activities Programs. F.W.O. believes that by offering services that are fit to an individuals wants and needs, by relying on the individuals input for direction, by placing importance on the satisfaction of our customers, by allowing individuals to move around with-in the organizational structure without hindrance, and by offering a wide variety of options F.W.O. will remain a Quality Consumer Driven Service Provider in the future.
