To connect youth to nature by eliminating barriers, providing resources, and promoting outdoor programming as essential for building healthy lives and inspiring future stewards of the planet.
For all youth to have the opportunity for meaningful experiences in nature.
We know that outdoor education and programming is a powerful tool that can improve health and academic achievement, teach teamwork and problem-solving skills, and prepare youth for the workforce.
Youth Outside supports outdoor and environmental organizations by offering a grant making program and capacity building opportunities. We envision that our programs will help serve as a pipeline for creating greater cultural relevancy in the outdoor field.
The Outdoor Educator’s Institute (OEI) is a three-month workforce and professional development program for 18-27 year-old Bay Area residents. OEI participants learn and practice a variety of skills necessary to become culturally competent outdoor leaders.
Rising Leaders Fellowship
Youth Outside's Rising Leaders Fellowship is aimed at diverse, rising leaders who currently hold mid to entry-level positions within outdoor education organizations and are also committed to affecting culture change within their own organization or the field as a whole.
Cultural Relevancy Series
Youth Outside facilitates a series of workshops for a select group of youth-serving, outdoor-focused organizations, forming a powerful and dynamic learning community that will fuel organizational change.
