Puppet Showplace, Incorporated
Puppet Showplace Theatre is dedicated to presenting outstanding professional puppetry to diverse audiences through performances, workshops, and community outreach activities. The theatre has been presenting live puppetry from its home at 32 Station Street, Brookline, MA for 39 years.
Puppet Showplace presents a 50-week season featuring a different performing company every week. Touring performances and community outreach events throughout the Northeast reach additional audiences at festivals and in parks, museums, schools, community centers and libraries. The Puppet Showplace has a year-round educational program that includes summer camps for children, family workshops with guest artists and adult classes. The theatre also provides curriculum-based shows to school groups and offers study guides to teachers.
Puppet Showplace has an average annual attendance of 24,000 patrons. They are drawn from throughout the New England region and tourists to the Boston area. Mainstage productions are geared towards families and 50% of the audience is children ages 3 to 10 years. Puppet Showplace presents an award-winning Puppets at Night and Puppet Slam series for adults bimonthly.
The theater is managed by a staff of five most with advanced degrees in Arts Administration, Stage Directing and Arts Education. The theater is governed by a 15 member board of trustees from the Greater Boston area. The organization is chartered as a not-for-profit corporation in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and classified as 501(C)(3) by the Internal Revenue Service.
