  • Mission

The Mission of the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County is to teach the history of the Holocaust and its lessons through education and community outreach. We teach about the dangers of antisemitism, racism, bullying and all other manifestations of intolerance. We promote resistance to prejudice and advocate respect for every human being.

    About Us

Volunteers are the life blood of the Center. Your presence, knowledge, commitment, and professionalism model the

responsibility and civic participation we foster in our education programs. Without you, we cannot operate to our full

potential nor reach the number of students who need our services.

Selection of individuals for the Holocaust and Tolerance Center’s volunteer programs is not influenced or affected by race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation or any other characteristic protected by law.

    Volunteer Guidelines

Volunteers are requested to work 5 hours per calendar month and to attend at least eight of twelve volunteer meeting per year. Volunteers will be scheduled based on their availability and the Center’s needs.

Volunteers should feel comfortable speaking with small and large groups of all ages. Volunteers work with people of diverse backgrounds and special needs. Volunteers are expected to interact with everyone in a fair and respectful manner. Volunteer activities may require walking and standing for extended periods in a variety of environmental conditions.
