GLOW - Government Lawyers Oversight Watchdog is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization documenting professional conduct by government attorneys and promote commitment to the rule of law. Through The Government Lawyers Database, GLOW creates public accountability for lawyers serving in the U.S. Executive branch while celebrating those who demonstrate legal courage and integrity.
Lawyers in the United States, no matter where licensed, must adhere to rules that ensure they act with competence, integrity, and diligence. A lawyer's role transcends the client-advocate relationship; lawyers have a fundamental and overriding duty to the rule of law itself and to the proper administration of justice. That duty is magnified for lawyers working for the government, and especially for lawyers working in the Executive branch. Government lawyers serve not only the administration, but also the public and the Constitution. Their job is not just to advocate for an administration's policies but to ensure the law is applied fairly and justly on behalf of all Americans. The unfortunate reality is that some government lawyers have failed to meet this standard, prioritizing loyalty to a person over commitment to the rule of law.
There is no effective mechanism dedicated to holding government lawyers to account. GLOW - Government Lawyers Oversight Watchdog was founded in April of 2025 to fill that gap. GLOW is a 501(c)(3) that aims to document misbehavior by government attorneys on the one hand, and to highlight instances of legal courage by government lawyers on the other. By creating a public record of professional successes and failures, and recommending improvements, GLOW hopes to encourage better professional conduct, restore public trust in the Executive Branch, and ultimately ensure that those who serve the public as lawyers do so with the integrity the American people deserve.
