Catalyst for Peace

  • About Us

CFP is a private granting and operating foundation building the infrastructure of peace from the inside out. In 2007, CFP helped found Fambul Tok (FT) in Sierra Leone, the world’s first national scale but fully locally owned and led program of post-war community healing and reconciliation, and we shared its stories of peace through a multi-media communications program, anchored by our award-winning documentary film. Building on this decade of experience, our ongoing partnership with Fambul Tok now focuses on growing inclusive governance in Sierra Leone as an essential means to ensure lasting peace and sustainable, community-centered development. CFP continues the development of a second major programmatic focus, also building on deep experience both in Sierra Leone and globally – inviting women’s leadership in peacebuilding and development. CFP is committed to an emergent way of working rooted in cultivating deep wisdom and ongoing action-learning cycles, an internal process and evolving program area we call -- Wisdom Circle. CFP is headquartered in Portland, Maine, and our core leadership team works remotely, from Portland, ME, Harrisonburg, VA, and the DC metro area.
