CATAMARAN

**Solidarite India is an Indian trust based in Chettikupam, 20 km from Pondicherry,since 1998. Today we are developing a new project which is a Center for Environmental Education. The main objective of the project is not only to sensitize Indian Citizen to the protection of environment but give them concrete tools to act. It means that they participate to our trainings and activities during 5 days approximately and they go back home with concrete and **positive ideas and actions to protect their local environment. We work on 7 topics: water, energy, biodiversity and marine biodiversity, waste, food and nutrition and health. Those entire topics are related to environment. Specialists of those questions are in charge of activities and **education. All the staff is Indian.**It is also a training center since 2003 where professionals and organizations come and organize their own training of different topics (environment, organic farmic, alternatives to economic development, social work with marginalized populations, etc...) : http://solidarite.asso.fr/Location-of-the-IITPD. **

The centre is now specialized in environmental education and has become the CATAMARAN centre.
