The Early Childhood and Family Hub will be a unique facility in Washington Heights and a
prototype for national scalability. This “all-in-one” community center will seamlessly
integrate a range of well-being services, educational programming, social benefits, and
community resources tailored for children under five and their caregivers, all within a
single central Hub.
Caregivers will be directed to the Hub through referrals from our many community
collaborators that serve families with young children. Located in an accessible location with
ample indoor and outdoor space, our program will engage each child’s entire support
network. There will be outdoor gardens and a teaching kitchen that provides food and
educational programs. Developmentally appropriate play spaces, a library and literacy
program, art and music programs are central to the plan. A highly skilled staff of social
workers, community members, and educators will partner with families to optimize this
critical time in children’s lives.
The development of the Hub has been a collective endeavor, shaped with input from local
families, community collaborators, and experts in early childhood development. A
community steering committee has shaped the project and will continue to provide insight.
