Hangry Donkey Sanctuary

    • Mission

    We have a donkey sanctuary/rescue/rehabilitation facility in the Rio Verde Foothills outside of Scottsdale, AZ. We take in some of the worst cases of neglect, and even some abuse, and rehabilitate with love, vet care, farrier care and good nutrition. Every donkey we take in is evaluated and loved. We train some when they are ready with halter leading, packing, riding (mammoths and bigger ones) and others that are old or have chronic conditions, we keep and love here at the sanctuary. We have volunteers that are the greatest that come and brush, spend time with them, etc. We also have special needs kids and adults that come and visit with the donks. This is my favorite, to see the donkeys work their magic on them. We find perfect homes for our adoptable donkeys with a contract and references with a promise to that donkey that they will never have to see the dark side of human nature again....We love happy donkeys...

    About Us

    We have approx. 25 donkeys, one mini mule and 2 mini horses here. We would like to be able to reach out more to the community with programs for special needs kids and adults. Our donkeys are said to be some of the friendliest, well adjusted animals with the time that we spend with them. We would like to build another covered shelter this year for them and with the price of feed almost doubling, we really need help with that. Also, we have quite alot of older ones with health issues so veterinary care is also a huge expense for us.

    We love when people come here and spend time with these amazing, smart animals. They always leave with a smile on their face.
