About Us

Shannon C. Coffman Center* was established to develop and implement programs and provide temporary housing for women who are recovering from drug and alcohol use and other addictive behaviors. Recovering addicts need safe and supportive drug-free housing. They are frequently socially confused; emotionally and psychologically unstable; physically and medically challenged; faced with ongoing legal and financial difficulties; not immediately capable of paying rent or obtaining employment and often without any stable family or community support network. Our holistic program will provide services that will lead to a sustainable recovery by enabling our clients to develop critical thinking and problem solving skills that will have a positive impact on their futures

Our first and primary activity will be the operation of a multi-phase residential program that will help clients evaluate their past behaviors and develop obtainable personal goals through participation in daily living activities in a recovery oriented home environment. Participation in these sessions will be mandatory. They will focus on education and knowledge of self through peer-to-peer forums, workshops and group sessions facilitated by certified substance abuse counselors, volunteer public health professionals and other experts in the field.

Clients will learn to understand addiction and its cycles and identify underlying causes and/or conditions that led them to the life of substance abuse . We believe that these underlying conditions must be addressed if there is to be any hope of a sustainable recovery.

We are a 501(3)(c) tax exempt organization.
