Housing Trust Silicon Valley
HISTORY AND MISSION
The mission of the Housing Trust Silicon Valley is to make Silicon Valley a more affordable place to live. We make loans and grants to increase the supply of affordable housing, assist first-time homebuyers, prevent homelessness, and stabilize neighborhoods.
Housing Trust Silicon Valley is an independent nonprofit organization launched in 2000 to help address the critical need for more affordable housing opportunities in the region. Participation in its loan pools are used to help build multi-family rental homes for the thousands of working families, seniors on fixed incomes and individuals with special needs and physical disabilities who cannot pay the skyrocketing rents in Silicon Valley, now among the highest in the nation.
Housing Trust Silicon Valley is the first nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) in the U.S. to earn a credit rating from Standard & Poor's Ratings Services. Its "AA-" rating indicates the organization has a "very strong capacity to meet financial commitments."
