About Us

Please note that the Science and Human Rights Program is now the Scientific Responsibility, Human Rights & Law Program (SRHRL) at AAAS. The Program addresses ethical, legal and human rights issues related to the conduct and application of science and technology. For more up to date information, events, and volunteer internship postings visit the Scientific Responsibility, Human Rights & Law Program page on idealist.

The Program uses science to expand the scope and strengthen the impact of human rights work around the world, and strives to bring universally-recognized human rights standards to the conduct of science. It does so by fostering collaboration among scientists and human rights practitioners; identifying and applying technology that can meet the needs of the human rights community; developing the scientific capacity of human rights partners; promoting the human right to benefit from scientific progress; and deepening scientists’ understanding of how human rights standards support responsible science.
