  • Mission

Project Bluewater Racing cultivates the next generation of offshore sailboat racers as the sole non-profit in San Diego providing college students access to offshore sailing education and training while upholding the values of environmental stewardship.

    About Us

Project Bluewater Racing (PBWR) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to offshore sailboat racing while advancing sustainability and ocean science. Based in San Diego, we provide hands-on education for our members through offshore training and competition aboard our racing yacht Maasai, developing skilled, safety-conscious sailors ready to contribute to the sport.

Our programs unite three core pillars: offshore racing education, environmental sustainability, and scientific exploration. Members gain practical seamanship and navigation experience, participate in initiatives to reduce marine pollution, and collaborate on research projects that support healthy oceans and bays.

PBWR is building a diverse community of emerging sailors and ocean advocates who share a commitment to both performance and preservation—ensuring that the thrill of offshore racing goes hand in hand with caring for the waters that make it possible.
