The ELEMENT Rockford

The ELEMENT, which began as Mayor Morrissey’s Rockford Arts, Housing & Lifestyle Network, has developed into a an ambitious entity with multiple projects underway in Central Rockford. Organized as a loose knit network of interested organizations and individuals the ELEMENT functions with unique flexibility to make things happen.

Mission: The ELEMENT – building a community of the creative spirit in the Heart of Rockford for artists, entrepreneurs and professionals to live, work and play.

Organizational Structure: To work with minimal staff, comprised of a paid Director coordinating professional services donated on an in-kind basis by partners or professional consultants. Members of The ELEMENT bring their talent and organizational resources to the projects through working groups.

Strategy: To collaborate with existing community stakeholders as well as new public and private partners, implementing programs and projects to manage, market, promote and fund the Downtown Rockford arts, entertainment and cultural district. Individual activities are broken out to assure efficient use of funds, provide accountability and allow for measurable results. Programs are created and implemented in a clearly defined, manageable geographic area, Downtown Rockford Arts & Cultural District and City of Rockford TIF Districts.
