    We are a nonprofit scoring touchdowns for Nashville's young men.

    We believe "sports is the game; education is the future."

    1st and 10 1st and 10 is the entry-level program which Backfield incoporates to serve boys 10-12 years. After school, our participants alternate between tutoring and mentoring in the classroom. Our licensed teachers and certified reading specialists place special emphasis on: reading comprehension, math, critical thing and homework completion.

    Following successful participation of the academic period, our student-athletes engage in different team sports (vary by season).

    4th and 1

    Designed to retain graduating 1st and 10 participants in the Backfield Family, our 4th and 1 program continues the character-building process. Students 13-18 learn skills to become confident leaders. Backfield sessions include continue academic tutoring, mentoring, group discussions, life-skills training, field trips, ACT/SAT prep, college prep and job training.

    Saturday (School) Enrichment

    This program is a required extension of the weekly tutorial program. Students eat a hot breakfast at 8am, then rotate through classes: reading, language arts and math. The day concludes with a series of matches (vary by season).
