About Us

Canoa Ranch is an amazing cultural heritage site in Tucson, Arizona. It is one of the oldest historic ranches in the Santa Cruz River Valley. It was originally established in 1820 as a Spanish land grant and has passed through several other hands since then. In 2001, the ranch was purchased by Pima county and renovations have been underway ever since to return Canoa Ranch to its former beauty. The Friends of Canoa Heritage Foundation, Inc. was established to apply for funds not otherwise available to the county to assist with the ranch restoration. “Friends” is a 501c3 tax deductible organization. The Friends of Canoa Heritage Foundation has been taking steps to preserve and renovate this unique piece of Southwestern history since 2001. With support and assistance they hope to fully renovate the property, including the pond that once acted as the heart of the property and an important stop-over for migratory birds. The Foundation hopes that one day people from all over the world will be able to come to Tucson and appreciate the breathtaking beauty of the Canoa Ranch.
