About Us

NPH USA (formerly Friends of the Orphans) transforms the lives of orphaned, abandoned and disadvantaged children in Latin America and the Caribbean by supporting the homes, healthcare and educational programs of Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH, Spanish for "Our Little Brothers and Sisters"). Together, we create families for life and teach children the values of unconditional love, shared responsibility and helping others. Our supporters help children overcome poverty and become leaders in their own communities.

Since its founding in 1954, NPH has assisted more than 20,000 children. More than 3,400 boys and girls are currently being raised in Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua and Peru. An additional 1,600 students who live outside the homes receive scholarships, meals and health care. NPH outreach programs provided over 90,000 services a year.

NPH USA supports NPH International through fundraising and volunteer programs.

Local Volunteers

In addition to our national office in Chicago, we have six regional offices, each working in tandem to build support for our mission. Our office locations are:

• Northwest: Bellevue, WA

• Southwest: Scottsdale, AZ

• Upper Midwest: St. Paul, MN

• National/Midwest: Chicago, IL

• Mid-Atlantic/Northeast: Quincy, MA

• Southeast: Miami, FL

Our offices rely on volunteers to:

• Provide office support

• Help at special events

• Serve on boards and committees

• Translate letters to/from our children

Volunteer schedules are flexible and you may work as much or as little as you want. Opportunities may vary by region, but please note: we do not work directly with children in our U.S. offices. For more information and to apply online, please visit
