CIRMA (Centrum Inisiatif Rakyat Mandiri)

CIRMA (Centrum Inisiatif Rakyat Mandiri) is a nonprofit organization based in West Timor, Indonesia, dedicated to advancing climate justice, sustainable agriculture, and community resilience. Established to respond to the urgent challenges faced by smallholder farmers in one of Indonesia’s most climate-vulnerable regions, CIRMA works through inclusive, participatory approaches that put farmers at the center of change.

Our programs focus on strengthening farmer groups and cooperatives, promoting eco-farming practices and climate-smart innovations such as organic fertilizers and eco-enzymes, and building local knowledge through trainings and farmer-to-farmer learning. We also engage in advocacy to ensure rural communities gain equitable access to resources, markets, and climate-related services.

Through the Empowering West Timor (E-WesT) Program, CIRMA has reached thousands of smallholder farmers across 30 villages, supporting them to organize, innovate, and adapt to the impacts of climate change. Guided by values of solidarity, justice, sustainability, and collaboration, our vision is resilient and self-reliant rural communities where farmers are recognized as key actors in building a just and sustainable future.
