Camp Shemesh, a program of the Jewish Community of Amherst (JCA),
is in our 32nd year of operation. Through a framework of Jewish themes
and values, we provide space for youth to explore their authentic selves
while learning to be empathic and environmentally sensitive people
and leaders. Camp engages music, creative arts, gardening, sports,
swimming, field trips, team challenges, Kabbalat Shabbat celebrations
and more to nurture exploration in the arenas of self-expression, earth
stewardship, community, and identity. We value diversity and pride
ourselves in our welcoming, joyful and inclusive atmosphere for both
Jewish and non-Jewish families. Camp Shemesh is located at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts. We serve campers and teens in K - 10th grades. (Note: Kindergartners must be 5 years old by June 1.)
The camp day runs from 8:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day.
