  • About Us

Founded in 1987, The Open Door is a community outreach and youth services organization that serves children and their families in Crafton Heights, a working class, multiracial neighborhood on Pittsburgh's West End. A ministry of First United Presbyterian Church of Crafton Heights, The Open Door's mission is to create intentional, long-lasting, and meaningful relationships between children, adult mentors, and other community stakeholders. As a Christian organization, The Open Door endeavors to create a space for children that not only reflects Christ's love for all people, but that also works to overcome structural inequalities and unjust institutions in order to provide our children with a future more deserving of them.
