About Us

We are the only pediatric skilled nursing facility in the Pacific Northwest, providing 24-hour long-term, short-term, respite and end-of-life care to medically fragile children and young people ranging in age from infancy to 21 years.

When a child has profound disabilities and complex medical needs, providing the necessary round-the-clock care can be exhausting and overwhelming. For four decades, families have turned to the Center for Medically Fragile Children at Providence Child Center. Children at the center receive treatment and education essential to their well-being.

Our interdisciplinary care team assesses and treats complex medical conditions. They monitor symptoms, administer medications and provide leading-edge therapies, and aquatic therapy. Parents receive information and support to understand their child's complex medical needs.

Many of our children attend classes at Portland public schools; others receive individualized education on site. All children have the opportunity to participate in Providence Child Center thereapeutic recreation, including bowling, gardening, dancing, art , music and field trips to various venues in the Portland area.

Our dedicated staff and volunteers provide a loving, enriching environment for every youngster. The center serves as an extension of the child's family, complete with volunteers who play, laugh and hangout with children.
