Bedford Stuyvesant New Beginnings Charter School
Mission Statement: At the Bedford-Stuyvesant New Beginnings Charter School, families, educators and community members will join together to create a supportive and rigorous academic environment. Through the pursuit of 21st century learning, project based & service learning, and traditional coursework strategies, students will be prepared to succeed in academically competitive schools as well as become responsible citizens of the global community.
Our History and Our Future: BSNBCS opened its doors in September 2010 to serve families in Community School District 16, which is located in the neighborhood of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. We currently serve grades K-8 and graduated our first class in June 2016. Service Learning is a central tool that we use to anchor academic learning in real-world problem solving and empowerment for our students. We use Response to Intervention to identify and respond to our students' academic, emotional and behavioral needs. As a professional community, we value hard work, collaboration, and professional development.
