Rape Crisis Center of Dane County, WI

Founded in 1973 the Rape Crisis Center is the only comprehensive 24/7 sexual assault-specific victim service in Dane County, WI. Services include 24/7 helpline support, hospital accompaniment/advocacy and law enforcement accompaniment/advocacy; criminal justice system, personal, campus, workplace and systems advocacy; emotional support, short-term counseling and short-term therapy; middle- and high-school and campus-based services; school-based prevention education, school and community outreach, professional development/training and self-awareness and defense. RCC's mission is to promote hope, help and healing for those harmed by sexual violence and strive, through education and outreach, to create social change to end sexual violence. We serve children, women, men and gender-non-binary and fluid individuals with all identifies. Services are provided in English and Spanish as well as other languages through the Language Line and partnerships with culturally-specific agencies with whom we also co-advocate for the most appropriate services for each client. The agency employs approximately 30 staff, has paid staff on duty 24/7/365 and provides services through the use of 50-80 volunteers who staff the Helpline. The agency is governed by a volunteer, community-based, representative board of directors. RCC staff serve on the Dane County Commission on Sensitive Crimes, Chair the Coordinated Community Response to Sexual Assault, co-chair the Dane County Sexual Assault Response Team, and participate on public health and other commissions, committees and initiatives.
