About Us

One of the first community-based mental health agencies in the country, Westside Community Mental Health has been providing mental health and related services to adults, youths, and families since 1967.

As an incorporated, non-profit agency, Westside is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Westside is dedicated to caring for the underserved population of San Francisco; the poor, the homeless, people of color and others who have difficulty accessing health services.

Westside provides a continuum of mental health, substance abuse prevention and treatment, and HIV related services. These programs and the administration that supports them are integrated service for low-income residents who have multiple and complex health needs.

Westside recognizes that psychological, sociological, economic and medical aspects of these complex illnesses must be addressed in order to enable a person to recover. The philosophy of the agency is to form a partnership with each client. We believe this is the most effective way to maximize strengths of the person, their family, and their culture.
