About Us

The science is clear: our brains develop more rapidly in the first three years of life than at any other time, and the best tool we have to encourage healthy brain growth is responsive, nurturing interactions between caregivers and children via play and throughout the day. Yet this research often doesn’t reach those best placed to make an impact – parents and caregivers – who could use this information to support their children’s brain growth and healthy development every day.

The Children's Storefront has invested in Harlem for nearly six decades, offering children an excellent education and addressing the needs of their families. We are now laser-focused on bringing the power of brain-building interactions to the very youngest children and their families. Our on-line program and in-person playspace allow caregivers and children to learn together, with caregivers practicing the skills that spur brain development while receiving immediate feedback and support from early childhood specialists.

Our program has a lasting impact. After only a few sessions, the bond between caregiver and child is strengthened. Caregivers gain confidence in their ability to spur healthy brain development in their child. This leads to an increase in their child’s sense of security and confidence, accelerated language development, and improved self-regulation.

The Children’s Storefront is committed to the science of early childhood brain building and provides access to our life-changing program to all families, including those who would otherwise be unable to afford such support. Join us as we continue our essential work!
