About Us

KittyKind is an all-volunteer organization that enables cat lovers in and around New York City to foster and adopt felines of all ages, from kittens to seniors. Each year, we accept more than 600 cats directly from rescuers and from members of the public who are unable to keep their pets due to illness, financial hardship, and other difficulties. We are committed to caring for and finding the best adoptive homes for our cats, with a special dedication to those who are deemed “special needs” because of illness, injury, disability, or age.

A sampling of KittyKind cats is always on view at our adoption center in Petco on Union Square in Manhattan. Our volunteers provide foster care in their homes for felines under medical care or awaiting their turns in the center.

Our 2017 save rate is 99.7%, calculated as (total intake minus cats euthanized) divided by total intake. We are a Petco Adoption Partner and a member of the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals, the Best Friends Network, the Maddie’s Fund Coalition, and Shelter Animals Count. We are also participants in Rehome and the Million Cat Challenge.
