    The Hebrew Educational Society of Brooklyn is a multi-service Jewish community center that helps those in need, embraces diversity, practices inclusion, and builds a strong community. “Where there is a need, we stand ready to serve” is the foundation for HES’s wide array of programs for people of all ages, life stages and ability levels that promote the educational achievement, social/emotional development, health, economic vitality, civic engagement, and quality of life for our community.

    About Us

    H.E.S. is a nonprofit Southeast Brooklyn based community center, providing important social,

    recreational, cultural, educational, counseling, and health services to more than 7,000 users

    annually. The agency serves a diverse population including African-Americans; a large

    Caribbean population from Haiti, the West Indies, Jamaica and Panama; new Israeli residents,

    émigrés from the former Soviet Union, Asians, and Jewish and Italian residents. H.E.S. responds

    to demographic changes by making it a policy to welcome all and by proactively implementing

    programs to advance community cohesiveness. H.E.S. serves the vulnerable and the disabled,

    children, the elderly and our entire community. H.E.S., with funding from various government

    agencies and private foundations, provides needed quality services enhancing the lives of all

    residents.
