About Us

The National Cherry Blossom Festival is coordinated by the National Cherry Blossom Festival, Inc. (NCBF), a 501(c)(3), not-for-profit umbrella organization of business leaders, civic groups and government officials incorporated in 1985.

The purposes of the NCBF are to:

a) Plan, coordinate and promote the annual National Cherry Blossom Festival;

b) Support historical, cultural and commemorative activities in the District of Columbia designed to increase public awareness of the lasting ties, values and culture shared by Japan and the United States, evidenced by the City of Tokyo's 1912 gift of 3,000 cherry trees to the District of Columbia; and

c) Consult and assist in the creation, development and production of programs, activities, events and projects that help the NCBF meet these purposes, providing management and leadership training through community involvement.
