Giving youth voice through artistic expression.

Vision

Finding One's Voice provides opportunities for youth to create works of visual art and writing to express ideas, feelings, and beliefs in a constructive manner. The focus is on process rather than product. FOV empowers youth to seek balance and a sense of well-being, to find a calm center in the storm of modern life, and to cultivate compassion and resilience.

Program

Snapshots of Joy encourages children to explore and find their voice artistically, orally and through the written word. FOV purchases and distributes disposable cameras to children and asks them to take pictures of things that make them happy. Once the film is developed, the children discuss and explore their perspective and motivations for taking the photographs. Photos are then framed alongside a personal reflection and an exhibit of these works is held for families, friends and/or the public. Snapshots is currently being offered in cooperation with local partners to children ages 5-13.
