  • Mission

The School Mindfulness Project's (SMP) mission is to, "provide students and teachers in Philadelphia's underserved school communities with greater physical and emotional well-being, paving the way for compassionate classrooms and creating space for academic success."

    About Us

Our SMPeaceful program provides ALL students with a baseline mindfulness education and ALL staff with introductory mindfulness training and classroom integration support to provide a lasting impact. Utilizing a five-part educational curricula, a dedicated SMP Educator Team provides:

    • A 7-week Mindful Teacher immersion program to school staff
    • A 14-week Mindful Classroom Community Training to students and teachers
    • A yearlong classroom-based training, education, applied practice and integration support which ensures classroom and school-wide communities are adopting the practices as their own.

Upon completion of the training program, schools may elect to provide students on-the-mat yoga classes.

Our SMPeaceful program equips teachers and students with the tools, knowledge, skills, and materials to continue their own mindfulness practices and integrate mindfulness education into the classroom setting using daily lessons from The School Mindfulness Project’s curriculum.
