About Us

The Georgia Citizens’ Coalition on Hunger (Hunger Coalition) is a statewide network of 80 grassroot organizations and about 800 individuals. The Hunger Coalition works in urban and rural communities across the state, serving low-income families. In these thirty-three years the Hunger Coalition has played a significant role in the progressive movement in Georgia and across the South. The Hunger Coalition was founded in December 1974. Our vision is to end hunger, homelessness and poverty in Georgia. Our mission is to achieve well-being for all Georgia families including having access to nutritious affordable food, safe and affordable housing, affordable comprehensive healthcare and a quality education.
