About Us
NEWSAR is dedicated to providing no-cost and low-cost training in specialized Search & Rescue skills to civilian volunteers and law enforcement professionals throughout the Northeastern U.S. Course instruction includes Search Management, K9 Handling (Lost Person Wilderness Searches, Cadaver Recovery, Collapsed Building Urban Searches, Water Searches), Mantracking, Crime Scene Protection, Basic and Advanced Ground Navigation (Map & Compass, GPS), Grid Searching, Equestrian Searching, Wilderness Medicine and development of Technical Rescue skills. NEWSAR is an approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (see GuideStar.com) and is actively seeking tax-deductible contributions to fund its life-saving mission.
