The Dispute Resolution Center of Sullivan County
DRC serves Orange, Putnam, Sullivan and Ulster counties, helping individuals and organizations to effectively and constructively manage conflict through the process of mediation. Professional trained volunteers provide mediation services for neighborhood disputes and small claims court cases. Volunteers with advanced skills and experience may also provide mediation services in custody/visitation, parent/child, child support, and elder issues.
Are you a good communicator? Do you have the ability to look at a situation and see both sides? Have you ever wanted to give back and make a difference in your community but weren’t sure how? If the answer is yes to any or all of these questions, then you may enjoy being part of a volunteer mediator panel.
The Sullivan County office of the Dispute Resolution Center (DRC) will conduct a Basic Principles of Mediation training this Winter. Taking place at the Government Center in Monticello, this is an exciting, interactive training that includes role-playing, discussion and skill-building in such areas as communication, negotiation, listening and agreement writing. Through our NYS Unified Court System Program, you will have the opportunity to mediate non-court cases that involve neighbors, interpersonal disputes, consumer/merchant, or workplace issues. Additionally, you may have the opportunity to mediate typical cases in town and village courts.
