  • About Us

Nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002, Global Witness (GW) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to exposing the corrupt exploitation of natural resources and international trade systems, to drive campaigns that end impunity, resource-linked conflict, and human rights and environmental abuses. We operate in areas where environmentally destructive trade is funding conflict or human rights violations. We collect the evidence and use it to achieve long-term change. Thematically, GW campaigns to stop natural resource from fuelling conflict, combat corruption in the oil, gas, and mining sectors, prevent corrupt funds from entering the global financial system, and tackle illegal logging and unsustainable forest use.
