About Us

The Corona Youth Music Project (CYMP, or Nucleo Corona) strives to promote social inclusion in the City of New York by empowering youth and children in Corona, Queens to excel through their participation in collective music learning.

The CYMP will be the first El Sistema inspired program in Queens, New York. It strives to serve its community and neighboring areas. The project includes a number of intensive seminars, in preparation for establishing the CCYMP as a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization within no more than 3 years. This núcleo will support at least one children’s symphony orchestra and one choir, along with its educational program, and serve the neighborhood by providing a safe, fun space for children and youth to excel artistically and help them become valuable members of their community.
