sustainADELPHIA, in its broadest sense, is an initiative to discuss and organize around ideas for enabling a sustainable living environment in Philadelphia. sustainADELPHIA has worked with the Philadelphia Department of Parks & Recreation, Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, Fairmount Park Conservancy, and various park groups, civic associations, and motivated neighbors to spearhead and support neighborhood and park cleanup projects throughout the Philadelphia area. Some of the parks and playgrounds we have worked on include Herron Playground (250 Reed St.), Jefferson Square Park (4th & Washington Ave), Mifflin Square Park (6th & Wolf St.), Sacks Playground (5th & Washington Ave.), Triangle Park (Passyunk Ave. & Christian St.), and Weccacoe Playground(4th & Catharine St.).
The aim of sustainADELPHIA is to work with the city’s more established park groups and neighborhood associations to help lift up Philadelphia’s most neglected parks and neighborhoods. We want to work with those groups who have a proven model for success to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and best practices with start-up groups in Philadelphia’s less fortunate neighborhoods.
Going forward, our aim is to expand the sustainADELPHIA umbrella to include more programs that promote sustainability initiatives in Philadelphia. If you would like to volunteer your support or partner with us on sustainable programming in the Philadelphia area, please contact us at info@sustainADELPHIA@org.
