About Us

Our Mission
To improve the quality of life for survivors of acquired brain injury and their families and to raise community awareness of the causes and effects of these disabilities. Our goal is to help individuals achieve their maximum level of potential and independence.

How We Help...
  • We support families and help survivors rebuild skills to re-engage in life with new purpose
  • We are a community who understands
  • We provide training and education for professionals and the community at large
Brain injuries do not discriminate.
They can happen at any time, to anyone.
The people Schurig Center for Brain Injury Recovery serves are all of “us”. Our clients are professionals, parents, sons and daughters, friends, neighbors, and family members – our local community. Our clients have survived an injury that has dramatically changed their lives, and the lives of those who care about them.

We serve adults ages 18 and up whose lives have been impacted by an acquired brain injury. We also serve their families and caregivers. An acquired brain injury (ABI) is an injury that occurs after birth resulting from an accident, stroke, concussion, sports/recreation, loss of oxygen, tumor, virus, and other causes.

We Provide a Critical Lifeline of Hope, Healing & Recovery
Schurig Center for Brain Injury Recovery is the only nonprofit, post-acute therapeutic center in Marin and Sonoma Counties offering an array of affordable rehabilitative and supportive services designed to help survivors and their families rebuild their lives after a brain injury.

We welcome people from throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Each year, we impact over 2,000 survivors, caregivers, and community members a year through on-site services, resource and referral assistance, concussion education program and web site (, and training and educational presentations for professionals and the community at large.
