Schurig Center's mission is to improve the quality of life for survivors of acquired brain injury and to raise community awareness about the causes and effects of these injuries. We offer an array of rehabilitative and supportive services designed to help brain injury survivors and their families live fully, meaningfully, and happily.
We pick up where the healthcare system leaves off to help people adjust to life changes; regain essential skills; and, build new lives of value and purpose. Scholarships are offered for those living on a low income to ensure everyone has access to care. Our services are offered in a community center surrounded by a beautiful garden, and we welcome people from throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
Acquired brain injury (ABI) has many causes and is more widespread than is generally known. Brain injury does not discriminate. It can happen to anyone, at any time – from a stroke, concussion, accident, fall, sports, recreation, infection, aneurysm, tumor, heart failure, and other causes. The people we serve are professionals, parents, sons and daughters, friends, neighbors, and family members – our local community. We serve adults ages 18+ whose lives have been impacted by an ABI. We also serve their families and caregivers.
