Girls Inc. of Central Connecticut

  • About Us

Girls Inc. of Central Connecticut inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. Our comprehensive approach to whole-girl development equips girls to navigate gender, economic, and social barriers and grow up healthy, educated, and independent. First operating as the Girl’s Club of Meriden, the organization started in 1919, and moved to its current center at 130 Lincoln Street in 1951.   Girls Inc. of Meriden - now Girls Inc. of Central Connecticut  - serves girls 5-18 with out-of-school programming in and out of the center, hosts an acclaimed summer camp program that takes advantage of our in-ground pool to teach generations of girls how to swim, and offers a growing dance and established recreation and competitive gymnastics program.  Girls Inc. of Central Connecticut is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization, a member of the Girls Inc. network, with affiliates throughout the United States and Canada, and national headquarters in New York City, Indianapolis and Washington DC.  We are governed by a local board of directors.
